After the Site Survey process has been completed, the Designer will then have a detail understanding of what the Solar Hot Water system will need. The designer will produce a system diagram, a parts list, a list of expected labor resources required and a county or city permit request. The county permit process is usually quick and fairly easy. Some city permits are also quick and easy, while others are not. If a rebate or a loan is to be part of the package, then the paperwork for them will also be started during the design process. When all paperwork requirements are completed and all permits have been issued, the installation can begin.

All installation, inspection and certification processes will be coordinated by the Simple Solar Solutions operations manager and the homeowner. The homeowner will know about and agree to the timing of all installation, inspection and certification of the system.

In the summer, installation will start early. The crews like to be off the roof, out of the attic and out of the sun before it gets too hot. During the winter, roof installs will not be done on rainy days. It is not safe to be on a roof in the rain. Collectors that are being placed on the side of a house can be installed in the rain. The collector(s) and its associated plumbing usually represent only about one third of the cost and labor related to a system install. The other two thirds are related to all the other components.

Most of the installation is performed in what is called the storage tank area. In this area we will install a storage tank, a system control station, a pumping station (which can have one or two pumps) and all the pipes, fittings, valves, gages, meters and other items needed to make these components work correctly.

The installation process usually takes two installers and one plumber two days to complete. Some installs will require a representative of the homeowner to be on the property for two eight hour periods. Other installs will only require a representative of the homeowner to be there for one period of two to fours hours. If and when we need to go into an occupied space of a building, we would like to have someone there to help us. We will not know where to go and where not to go. We do not know your home, but you do. Now and then, all of the installation can be perform on the outside the building and in a garage area. Under these circumstances the owner need only to let us into the garage. You also need to know that all Simple Solar Solutions' designers, installers and plumbers are bonded and insured.

After the system design and installation process is completed all that is left is the inspection and acceptance process.
