In the Contract Signing and Survey process the same representative of Simple Solar Solutions LLC will again meet with the homeowners. If the original representative from Simple Solar Solutions is not a designer, a designer will accompany him or her. At the beginning of the meeting the homeowner will be asked to sign a contract. We have a general construction contract that is appropriate for the state of Washington. The contract will state in general, that Simple Solar Solutions will install a specific Solar Hot Water system and in return the homeowner will promise to pay Simple Solar Solutions a specific amount of money. The homeowner will not be asked for any money until the installation is completed.

Each and every Solar Hot Water system installation is a little bit different. Therefore, an original survey and design must be made for each installation. This survey and design process takes time and money. A contract signing is required before we start the survey and design processes.

A site survey must be perform on the property where the Solar Hot Water system will be installed. This will require a representative of Simple Solar Solutions to enter the property in question. This is usually done by a designer. The designer will need to see where the original hot water heater is. In most situations, the designer will need to enter any attics on the property. The designer will take pictures of the attic. If the collector is to be placed on the roof, most permits require additional bracing of the roof trusses. These pictures will be used in the permitting process. What the industry calls a solar survey, must be made from exactly where the collector will be placed.

The solar survey will provide information about true solar gain. Simple Solar Solutions, uses the "Solar Pathfinder" equipment and computer software to identify how much solar gain the site will produce. Solar Pathfinder will also note the percentage of obstruction the site might have. (Some loans and rebates are contingent on solar gain and/or percentage of obstruction the site might have.) The designer will then note the distance and path pipes will take from the collector site to the storage tank area. Only a good survey and design can come up with the best collector and storage tank for each situation. Please note that for residential use, the storage tank and solar collector are usually not very large in size. The storage tank is usually about the same size as your hot water heater and the collector is usually about 6 feet tall and 6 to 10 feet wide.

The Survey and Contract Signing process will require a representative of Simple Solar Solutions LLC to meet with the homeowners at the property where the Solar Hot Water system will be installed. Before the survey can be done, the homeowner will need to sign a contract. A representative from Simple Solar Solutions will then need to physically inspect and survey the property. This whole process usually takes about two hours. After the survey is done, the design and installation of the system can begin.
